Chris Stoddard attended the University of Newcastle and graduated from a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with distinction. He has previous experience working in a specialist sports and spinal clinic with a previous Olympic sailing physiotherapist. This was a tailored new graduate position with structured tutelage and vast practical experience. As a result of this, Chris has keen interest in sports injury assessment and diagnosis as well as exercise based and preventative rehabilitation. He has attended several post-graduate course including The Science of Cycling and attained a Sports Level 1 Certificate. He has provided physiotherapy for State Netball, International Children’s Games and the Australian Schoolboy’s Rugby Union. His personal interests include cycling, running, soccer, music/guitar and ultimate frisbee. In 2013 Chris represented Australia at the U/23 World Championships for Ultimate Frisbee where he and his team won bronze!
What is your guilty pleasure? Friday night footy with a beer and good company
What is your favourite movie? Into The Wild – If not only for the amazing cinematography, also for the fact that it reminds of me of what really matters in life
Name three people you would love to have dinner with? Kurt Fearnley – Definition of ‘inspirational’, Hamish Blake – For the comic relief, CS Lewis – I admire his wisdom and faith
Why do you love physiotherapy? It’s a people centred job! I spend my work days helping, teaching and getting to know people from all walks of life. Athletes to war veterans, farmers to accountants… With the common goal of getting their bodies to move well and feel better.
What is your favorite book? Catch-22 by Joseph Heller – Quite dark and twisted but very well written
What is your favorite place in the world? The running trails of Glenrock State Forest
What do you love most about Terrace Physio Plus? The team! Everyone is on the same page about not just treating symptoms but getting to know people and really help them achieve their goals. It fosters a very caring and positive environment to work in!
What is your favorite quote? Anything that CS Lewis ever said. I particularly like, “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”
What would people be surprised to know about you? My sport of choice is Ultimate Frisbee. Ive played it for 6 years and it’s taken me around the country and as far as Canada playing it!
